Canine Sapien Physical Therapy

About TJ & Bubba

A physical therapist, a rescue dog, and a new calling

Canine Sapien Physical Therapy exists because of one very good dog.

Thomas (TJ) Radic with his dog Bubba

My name is Thomas Radic, but I grew up with the nickname TJ. I'm from Belle Vernon, Pennsylvania, a small town south of Pittsburgh. I played soccer most of my life, have always led an active lifestyle, and have always had a dog somewhere in my life.

After earning my Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Misericordia University in 2019, I rescued Bubba to be my travel companion and jumped into travel physical therapy. When COVID-19 hit in 2020, I was grateful to have him along for the journey. We hiked through many of the most beautiful places in the country — more than 40 states together.

In the fall of 2022, while hiking in New Hampshire, Bubba became very lame after one hike and was partially to non-weight bearing on his right hind limb. I'd long been interested in canine rehabilitation, and Bubba's injury made the decision for me. I enrolled with the Canine Rehabilitation Institute to learn how to help him myself.

Watching Bubba improve with the exercises and treatments I was learning gave me a deep passion for this work. Bubba and I chose Colorado to settle down, and I started Canine Sapien Physical Therapy to help dogs who struggle with movement in their everyday lives — here in one of the most active, dog-loving places in the country.

Many of the exercises you'll see on this site are modeled by Bubba and by Bucky — real dogs, real sessions, and lots of treats.
